Description

Barbary partridges is native in North Africa, Gibraltar, and the Canary Islands. This national bird of Gibraltar is very popular among aviculturist around the world with its curios yet alert personality. The barbary is a rotund bird, with a grey-brown back, grey breast, and buff belly. The head is a light grey with a broad reddish-brown gorget. The flanks are rufous-streaked white and has red legs like the chukar or red legged partridge.

Our flock of barbary partridges are raised in a colony setting on the ground which has several stumps, perches, hides, natural grasses and foliage. Their ground is a masonry sand that stays as dry as possible and sieved weekly to removes excess waste and feathers. The sand allows them to dust bathe and our mixture contains small river rock that is a natural source of grit for them.

If planning to raise these on wire it is advised to separate into 1M:1 F, 1M:2F, or 1M:3 F ratios as they will be more aggressive towards each other.

Laying season generally starts in May and will be accepting limited preorders now

Combined or multiple orders will be shipped separately.
